Mrs. West's Sixth grade lesson and homework plan for week of Oct. 1, 2012

8:10- 8:40 Bible		Give a brief introduction of the book of Matthew and the man who it was named after.  Talk about the things that are important to us. Homework:  Bring pictures from a magazine of items that bring pleasure to ypu.  Due Wednesday.	Chapel	Using the magazine pictures the students brought, make a collage of “pleasure pictures”.  Then complete workbook pg. 18. Homework:  Finish workbook pg. 18.	Take verse test on Matthew 6:19-21.  Introduce next week’s verse:  Mark 8:34-35.  Go over workbook pg. 18.  Complete writing a value for the items listed on pg. 19.  Have a “mock auction” for the items listed.  Discuss Matthew 6: 21.	Mt. St. Helen’s Field Trip:  Depart – 7:30 AM Return – 4:30 PM
8:45- 9:40 Lang. Arts		Mrs. Carrillo’s Class Mondays only: Khan Academy Mathematics (Computer)
9:45- 10:25 P.E. / Science		P.E.	Science In textbook, read pages 6-11.  Discuss faults, and block, folded and dome mountains.  No homework.	P.E.	Science Read pages 14 – 17 in textbook.  Show overhead of volcano while students fill in information on worksheet 8a. Homework:  Complete worksheet 8b -  Due Tuesday.	Science/P.E. Fill out worksheets as we walk the trails of Mt. St. Helen’s.  Due at the end of the day.

Grade lesson #10.  Take test #2.  Complete fun worksheet. No homework.	Go over test from yesterday.  Introduce Some and Some More and Some Went Away Stories. Homework:  Complete Lesson #11 – odds (or all for extra credit). Due Thursday.	Grade lesson #11.  Review place value to the trillions place.  Complete lesson #12 – evens.  Due Monday.
2:10- 2:55 History    Or Health - (Mondays)		Complete study guide for chapter 1.  Due tomorrow. Homework:  Chapter Checkup pgs. 22-23.  Sections C & D.  Due next Tuesday.	Complete study guide for chapter 2.  Due Thursday.  Homework:  Chapter Checkup pgs. 22-23 – Sections E & F.  Due next Monday.	Health Special speaker will discuss fire safety as well as show class fire fighting equipment and protective gear.  No Homework	Go over study guides for chapters 1 & 2.  Homework:  Make sure your chapter checkup is completed for next Monday.  Test will be next Tuesday.
