Sixth grade lesson and homework plan for week of Jan. 12, 2015

6th Grade	MONDAY	TUESDAY	WEDNESDAY	THURSDAY	FRIDAY
8:10- 8:50 Bible	Introduce the Bible verse – Romans 12: 1-2. By using water, illustrate what it means to conform and transform.  Complete directed activity pg. 160.  If time permits, do extension activity on same page. Homework:  Begin studying Bible verse for test onThursday.	Field Trip – National Geographic Presentation – Benaroya Hall and then Chuck E Cheese for lunch and fun. (All Day) (Bring $6.50 for pizza)	Using blindfolds, complete Directed Instruction pg. 162 allowing students to work in groups of threes. Introduce the concept of spiritual gifts.  Make a handprint heart as a wall hanging.  No homework	Read a story about a student who was bullied.  What is our responsibility to a person who is being treated unkindly? Divide into three groups.  Have each group illustrate the Bible verse they are given, and then share the illustrations with the class.  Complete Directed Instruction pg. 164.  Homework:  Continue studying for the Bible verse test that will be next Friday (Jan. 23rd).	Chapel – Martin Luther King Jr. focus.
8:55- 9:40 Math Group Teal	Grade lesson #44.  Demonstrate how to write decimal numbers in expanded notation format.  Homework:  Complete lesson #45 – odds. Due Wednesday.		Grade lesson #45.  Write five questions and answers from lessons 41 – 45.  Play a review game with these questions.  Homework:  Study for Math test over lessons 41 – 45 on Friday.	Science workday Complete working on History and Design Process in the Computer lab.	Math test 8A.  No homework
9:45- 10:26 P.E./ Science	Boys – P.E. Girls – Science – Begin working on break-throughs.  Homework:  Complete typing break-throughs.  Due Wednesday.		Boys – P.E. Girls – Science – Turn in breakthroughs.  Begin working on design process.  Homework:  Design process final draft is due on Monday.	Girls – P.E. Boys - Science
10:45- 11:35 Math Group - Purple	Go over test from last Friday.  Demonstrate how to subtract fractions and mixed numbers from whole numbers. Homework:  Complete lesson #36 – odds.  Due Wednesday.		Grade lesson #36.  Review how to add and subtract decimal numbers. Homework:  Complete lesson #37 – odds, (or all for extra credit).  Due Friday.	Girls – Science – Continue working on History and Design Process in the Computer Lab.	Grade lesson #37.  Show how to add and subtract decimal numbers and whole numbers.  Homework:  Complete lesson #38 – odds.  Due Monday.

1:15- 2:05 Health/Social Studies Group I	Health – Share with the class about the experience you or your family member had when they were given first aid.  Read pages 34 – 37.  No homework		History - Divide the class into two groups.  One group will complete packet on the House of Representatives – Pgs. 26 – 29.  The other will complete packet on the Senate – Pgs. 30 – 33.  Homework:  Packets are due tomorrow.	History - Have the House and Senate groups teach the others about the information they learned in their packet.  Homework: Keep practicing the Preamble.	History - How a Bill becomes a law.  Walk through the steps of how a bill becomes a law.  No homework
