Sixth grade lesson plan for week of Sept. 29, 2014

6th Grade	MONDAY	TUESDAY	WEDNESDAY	THURSDAY	FRIDAY
8:10- 8:50 Bible	Review the Bible verse:  Matthew 5:17 – 18.  Have students write what they believe that verse means.  Update prayer requests.  Discuss the differences between the old covenant and the new covenant.  Homework:  Study for test on Friday.	Chapel	Discuss what the Gospels are.  Read Introduction pg. 30 (T.E.) to class.  Who wrote the Gospels and how could we tell the others the “good news”?  Go over directed Instruction and then have students do extension activity pg. 30.  No homework	Allow students to say verse orally.  Write Christian on the board – find acronyms.  Play follow the leader.  Read directed Instruction pg. 32.  Homework:  Study for Bible verse test tomorrow.	Friday Sing.  Take Bible verse test over Matthew 5:17 – 18.  Print off all names of New Testament books.  Have students stand in order of the books.  Categorize the books into Gospels, Letters, History, or Prophecy. No homework
8:55- 9:40 Math Group Teal	Grade lesson #10.  Write five Math problems and answers that were covered by the last ten lessons.  Play a game with those problems.  Homework:  Study for Math test tomorrow over lessons 1 – 10.	Take Math test 1A over lessons 1 – 10.  No homework	Go over test from yesterday.  Introduce “Some and Some More” and Some Went Away” stories.  Homework:  Complete lesson #11 – odds, (or all for extra credit).  Due Thursday.	Grade lesson #11. Discuss place value to the trillions place.  Show place value chart.  Homework:  Complete lesson #12 – evens.  Due Friday.	Grade lesson #12.  Take students to computer lab to work on Math problems using Khan Academy.  No homework
9:45- 10:26 P.E./ Science	Boys – P.E. Girls –Science Discuss camp experience.  What did you learn?– Using Wegener’s puzzling continental drift paper, try to line up the continents how they once may have looked.  (Work in partners) Homework:  Bring a tennis ball on Wednesday.	Girls – P.E. Boys - Science	Boys – P.E. Girls – Science – Using the tennis ball, glue on the model of the plate tectonics.  No homework	Girls – P.E. Boys - Science	Boys – P.E. Girls – Science –Finish creating the plate tectonics model. Color the simplified plate tectonics map and then discuss what happens when the plates shift.  No homework
10:45- 11:35 Math Group - Purple	Grade lesson #7.  Introduce perimeter and show students how to measure it.  Homework:  Complete lesson #8 – odds.  Due Tuesday.	Grade lesson #8.  Show students using the number line how to order and compare numbers.  Homework:  Complete lesson #9 – evens.  Due Wednesday.	Grade lesson #9.  Demonstrate how to identify patterns of sequencing.  Also, show how to read a scale.  Homework:  Complete #10 – odds, (or all for extra credit).  Due Thursday. History - Work in groups, creating your ending to the mystery:  What happened to the lost colony of Roanoke? Homework:  Be ready to present your hypothesis to the class tomorrow.	History - In groups, present your hypothesis of what happened to the lost colony of Roanoke?  We will then discuss the historical hypothesis for this event.  No homework
